Carrying the ball

A player may block the ball with the body once per possession but may not catch or carry it; a lodged ball is restarted.

  1. 31

    Blocking, catching and carrying

A player may block or deflect the ball with any part of his or her body one time only during a possession, but he or she may not catch it with an open hand or carry it intentionally. If the ball becomes lodged against a player, his or her mount or its equipment in such a way that it cannot be dropped immediately, the Umpire shall blow the whistle and restart the game with a throw-in at the point where the ball was first carried, unless the team with the lodged ball had clear uncontested possession when the ball became lodged, in which case that team will be awarded a Fair Play Possession.

    No foul

No foul. A lodged ball is whistled dead and restarted with a throw-in where it was first carried. Had Blue 1's team had clear, uncontested possession, it would get a Fair Play Possession instead; here White 3 is marking him.
