Ball out of play: the ball is “out of play” if a goal has been scored or if it has gone over the back line or side line. The whistle is not blown and the clock is not stopped. Dead ball: when the Umpire blows the whistle or the bell rings to end the chukka, the clock stops. From then on the ball is considered dead until play restarts.

  3. 6.3

Throw-in: Each team must take up its position 5 yards in front of the referee, leaving an imaginary line that separates them by at least 60 cm.

    Original text

  4. 6.4

Offside: A player is offside if he comes onto the field from the side opposite to where he should line up for the throw-in. When a penalty or a knock-in is taken, only players of the defending team who come onto the field from the side opposite to where they should line up commit offside. The player may come into play once he passes his nearest teammate who has been correctly placed on the field. If there is no teammate on the field, the first player to come on shall be onside from the 60 yards (he may come on over the back line) and his teammates must pass him to be onside.

    Original text
