Disciplinary sanctions: technical foul, yellow and red cards
Misconduct is punished with a technical foul, a yellow card (two minutes off on the second) or a red card, and four yellows in a year mean a suspension.
Acts of misconduct shall be penalised by the Umpire with a technical foul, a yellow card or a red card, without prejudice to any sanctions that may apply under the Código de Faltas.

Los actos de inconducta serán sancionados por el Juez con foul técnico, tarjeta amarilla o tarjeta roja, sin perjuicio de las sanciones que pudieran corresponder conforme lo establecido en el Código de Faltas.
YELLOW CARD: • Repeated or serious acts of indiscipline and/or dangerous play shall be penalised with yellow cards. • A yellow card shall be given automatically for the second technical foul called against a player during the match. • If a player already has a yellow card for dangerous play and is called for his first technical for indiscipline, he shall not be given a yellow card. • At the second yellow card, the player concerned must leave the field for 2 minutes of playing time. If the penalty time is not completed in that period, it must be completed in the following chukka. If the sanction is applied in the last chukka and the match ends before it has been served, the sanction shall be considered served. • The third yellow card given to a player in the same match is equivalent to a red card and leads to his immediate sending off, for the rest of the match and the following match. • Cards may be shown up to 30 minutes after the end of the match. After the 30 minutes, it shall be up to the referee or the authority present at the ground whether or not to send a report of indiscipline to the AAP's Discipline Sub-committee.

TARJETA AMARILLA: • La repetición o gravedad de actos de indisciplina y/o de jugadas peligrosas se penalizarán con tarjetas amarillas. • Se aplicará tarjeta amarilla en forma automática al segundo foul técnico que se le cobre a un jugador durante el partido. • Si un jugador ya posee una tarjeta amarilla por juego peligroso y se le cobra su primer técnico por indisciplina, no se le aplicará tarjeta amarilla. • A la segunda tarjeta amarilla, el jugador afectado deberá dejar la cancha por 2 minutos de tiempo de juego. Si no se cumpliera el tiempo de penalización en dicho periodo, deberá completarse en el siguiente chukker. Si la sanción fuera aplicada en el último chukker y el partido finalizará antes de cumplirse la misma, se considerará que la sanción ha sido cumplida. • La tercera tarjeta amarilla aplicada a un jugador en un mismo partido equivale a tarjeta roja y conlleva a su inmediata expulsión. Por lo que resta del partido y el partido siguiente. • Las tarjetas pueden sacarse hasta 30 minutos después de finalizado el partido. Transcurridos los 30 minutos, dependerá del árbitro o de la autoridad presente en el lugar la elevación o no de un informe de indisciplina a la Subcomisión de Disciplina de AAP.
RED CARD: • A player who receives a straight red card (during or after the match) as a sanction from the umpire shall be automatically suspended until the Discipline Sub-committee decides his case. • The team of the player sent off may bring on a substitute, who must come on in accordance with the regulations within the 5 minutes following the sending off ordered by the Umpire. The substitute must be a player of lower or equal handicap to that of the player sanctioned. • If there is no substitute, the referee must restart play with the players available on the field, unless only 2 players are left, in which case the match shall be suspended and declared lost by that team.

TARJETA ROJA: • El jugador que recibiera tarjeta roja directa (durante o con posterioridad al partido) por sanción del juez, quedará automáticamente suspendido hasta que la Subcomisión de Disciplina resuelva su caso. • El equipo al que pertenece el jugador expulsado podrá incorporar un suplente, quien deberá ingresar en condiciones reglamentarias dentro de los 5 minutos siguientes a la expulsión ordenada por el Juez. El suplente deberá ser un jugador de hándicap menor o igual al del jugador sancionado. • Si no hay un suplente, entonces el referee debe reanudar el juego con los jugadores que estén disponibles en cancha salvo que solamente quedaran 2 jugadores en cuyo caso el partido se suspenderá y se le dará por perdido.
RETURN: • The player penalised with the 2 minutes of play, or the substitute in the case of a Red Card, must stay at his pony lines. The referee or third man shall be responsible for timing the return. Once 1 minute and a half of play after the penalty has passed, the player or the substitute, as the case may be, shall go round the outside to the middle of the field, where the referee is, for him to authorise his entry. If there is no third man, the Umpire shall decide the return in coordination with whoever is keeping the time.

REINGRESO: • El jugador penalizado con los 2 minutos de juego, o el suplente en el caso de la Tarjeta Roja, deberá permanecer en su palenque. El árbitro o tercer hombre será el responsable de cronometrar el tiempo para el reingreso. Cumplido el 1 minuto y medio del juego luego de la penalización, el jugador o el suplente según corresponda, se dirigirán al medio de la cancha por afuera, donde se encuentra el árbitro para que éste autorice su ingreso. De no haber tercer hombre el Juez será quien defina el reingreso en coordinación con quien lleve el cronometro.
ACCUMULATION OF CARDS: • When a player has accumulated four yellow cards in the same calendar year, he shall be automatically suspended for the following match. If the player has finished playing in that tournament, the penalty shall apply in the first match of a tournament of similar or higher category than the one in which the sanction was applied. Yellow cards shown in the same match (2 or 3) that entail a sanction served during the match (2 minutes of play) shall not count for these purposes. • Yellow cards given during each calendar year lapse on 31 December, unless a player accumulates 4 in the last match he plays in the year, in which case he must serve the suspension the following year in the first match of a tournament of similar or higher category than the one in which the sanction was applied.

ACUMULACION DE TARJETAS: • Cuando a un jugador tenga cuatro tarjetas amarillas acumuladas en el mismo año calendario, quedará automáticamente suspendido para el siguiente partido. En caso que el jugador haya finalizado su actuación en ese torneo, la pena se aplicará en el primer partido del torneo de categoría similar o superior a la de aquel en el que se aplicó la sanción. Las amarillas que se hubieran sacado en un mismo partido (2 o 3) y que impliquen una sanción que se cumplió durante el partido (2 minutos de juego), no se computaran a estos fines. • Las tarjetas amarillas aplicadas durante cada año calendario prescriben el 31 de diciembre, salvo que un jugador acumule 4 en el último partido que juegue en el año, en cuyo caso deberá cumplir la suspensión al año siguiente en el primer partido de un torneo de categoría similar o superior a la de aquel en el que se aplicó la sanción.
NOTE 1: If the act of misconduct deserves a sanction from the Discipline Sub-committee, that sanction shall absorb the yellow card given at the time for the incident, and it shall therefore not count towards the sanction for accumulating 4 yellows in the year.

NOTA 1: En caso de merecer el acto de inconducta una sanción por parte de la Subcomisión de Disciplina, ésta absorberá la tarjeta amarilla oportunamente impuesta con motivo del hecho y por ende no se computarán para la sanción de acumulación de 4 amarillas en el año.
NOTE 2: Yellow cards given in matches of Category “A” Championships - made up of the Spring open tournaments determined each year by the Board of Directors of the Asociación Argentina de Polo - shall not be taken into account for accumulation with those given in matches of Category “B” Tournaments, made up of all the other Tournaments or Championships organised or sponsored by the Asociación Argentina de Polo, and vice versa. Yellow cards shall be entered in the player's record, but must not be taken as a prior offence.

NOTA 2: Las tarjetas amarillas aplicadas en los partidos de los Campeonatos de Categoría “A” - integrada por los torneos abiertos de Primavera que determine anualmente el Consejo Directivo de la Asociación Argentina de Polo - no serán tenidas en cuenta a los efectos de su acumulación con las aplicadas en los partidos correspondientes a los Torneos de Categoría “B”, integrada por todos los demás Torneos o Campeonatos organizados o auspiciados por la Asociación Argentina de Polo y viceversa. Las tarjetas amarillas constarán en el legajo del jugador, pero no deben tomarse como antecedente.
